Breast Cancer Heroes Journey

Eight Years Ago Today, I Was Diagnosed With Breast Cancer—What I Wish Someone Had Told Me

Episode Summary

Today, 26 August 2026, marks exactly eight years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer on 26 August 2018—a day that changed the direction of my life forever. To honor this deeply personal anniversary, I am answering the questions I wish someone had answered when I first heard the words, “You have breast cancer.” A diagnosis can leave you frightened, overwhelmed and uncertain about what to do next. Suddenly, you are faced with unfamiliar medical language, important decisions and countless questions—some of which you may feel too frightened or uncomfortable to ask. In this episode of The Breast Cancer Heroes Journey Podcast, I speak openly about fear, second opinions, treatment decisions, finding your voice, setting boundaries, coping with uncertainty and learning to trust yourself throughout the journey. This episode is not about telling you which decisions to make. It is about sharing my lived experience so that you can feel less alone, more empowered and more confident asking the questions that matter to you. Whether you have recently been diagnosed, are supporting someone you love, or are navigating life after breast cancer, I hope this honest conversation reminds you that you do not have to face this journey alone.
